The Boozies from 1930s?

Many neighborhoods can not maintain themselves with the level of competition. They may get pulled into other neighborhoods or they just fade out. Only discuss those areas from LOS ANGELES that are gone.

The Boozies from 1930s?

Unread post by alexalonso » January 13th, 2009, 5:53 am

Has anyone ever heard of the Boozies, black gang in LA during the 1930s. It was started by a guy named Boozie Stokes, had a few brothers and was active in the 1930s.

This club is so old in Los Angeles, that none of the members would be alive, and those that heard of them first hand are in their 70s NOW! Sorry to say that the Boozies history may have been lost.

These Boozies where Black and from the 1930s and 1940s. I believe it started off as a family name.

The Boozies I’ve heard of was from the exact same era. Never heard of them being black though.
